Investment Management

What is
Investment Management?

Ongoing, discretionary management of your investment portfolio, built on the same financial plan we created together and adjusted as your life evolves.

We handle the day-to-day of your portfolio: rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, contribution guidance, and more, so the strategy on paper actually gets executed in practice.

Annual Fee Cap
$30,000 — your fee never exceeds this, regardless of portfolio size.

How It Works

Plan-driven investing,
managed for life.

Our process starts with your financial plan and never drifts from it. Every investment decision connects back to what matters to you.

Start with your financial plan

If you already have a financial plan with us, we pick up where it left off. If not, we build one first. No portfolio should exist without a plan behind it.

01
02

Design your investment strategy

We build a personalized Investment Policy Statement covering your target allocation, rebalancing rules, tax preferences, and risk guardrails, all documented and agreed upon before a single dollar moves.

Kickoff meeting & account setup

We walk through the strategy together, transfer or open accounts, and handle all the paperwork. Our goal is to have clients fully onboarded within one to two weeks.

03
04

Discover, design & implement

Your portfolio is built using low-cost, diversified funds aligned to your strategy. We implement with tax efficiency in mind: timing purchases, coordinating with outside accounts, and establishing tax-loss harvesting where appropriate.

Deliver ongoing reporting & access

You get a client portal with real-time portfolio visibility, quarterly performance reports, and direct access to your advisor. Not a call center.

05
06

Ongoing support & annual reviews

Markets change. Life changes. We monitor your portfolio continuously, rebalance as needed, and meet with you at least annually to revisit your plan and keep everything aligned.

Our Investment Philosophy

Three principles that
never waver.

We don't chase returns or time markets. We build durable portfolios grounded in evidence, structured for taxes, and calibrated to your life.

01

Diversification That Works Harder

We build globally diversified portfolios using low-cost index funds and factor-tilted strategies, capturing market returns while systematically reducing the risks that don't pay a premium.

02

Evidence-Based, Not Speculative

Every allocation decision is grounded in decades of academic research, not market forecasts or manager hot streaks. We invest with conviction in what the evidence actually supports.

03

Tax Efficiency at Every Step

From asset location to tax-loss harvesting to Roth conversion windows, we manage your portfolio with the IRS in mind, because after-tax returns are the only ones that matter.

What We Manage

Every account.
Coordinated as one.

We manage across account types as a unified strategy, not siloed buckets that accidentally work against each other.

Retirement Accounts

401(k), IRA, and Roth IRA managed with contribution timing, allocation, and withdrawal strategy all coordinated.

Taxable Brokerage

After-tax accounts managed for tax efficiency first: asset location, harvesting, and avoiding unnecessary taxable events.

Business & SEP Accounts

Self-employed and business retirement accounts integrated with your overall tax and investment strategy.

Risk Management

Portfolio stress-testing, downside scenario modeling, and insurance gap analysis to keep your overall financial picture protected.

Tax Strategy

Year-round coordination with tax planning: Roth conversions, capital gains management, and RMD timing built into portfolio decisions.

Legacy Planning

Beneficiary coordination, titling review, and charitable giving strategies embedded into how we manage and distribute assets.

Common Questions

What We
Help With

Questions we hear from clients before getting started, and what we do about each one.

Question
"I have accounts scattered everywhere. Can you consolidate them?"
Yes. We coordinate account transfers and manage everything from one unified strategy, even if some accounts need to stay where they are.
Question
"How do I know my portfolio is actually aligned with my plan?"
Every allocation traces back to your written financial plan. We review alignment at least annually and whenever your life circumstances change.
Question
"Do I need a minimum amount to get started?"
We typically work with clients who have $250,000 or more in investable assets. Exceptions can be made for clients already engaged in our financial planning service.
Question
"Am I paying too much in fees at my current firm?"
We'll do a free cost comparison of your current portfolio versus what you'd pay at BWP, including fund expenses and advisor fees.
Question
"What happens to my investments when the market drops?"
We don't react. We execute the plan. Market downturns are often tax-loss harvesting opportunities, and we stay in regular contact so you're never left wondering what to do.
Question
"Can you work alongside my existing CPA or attorney?"
Absolutely. We coordinate directly with your other advisors and share data they need to do their jobs well, with your permission.
